THE COMMITMENT
California School Board Pledge
Parents First. Students First. Education First.
I, ________________________________, as a current school board member / candidate for school board, make these public commitments to the students, parents, teachers, and taxpayers I serve:

PARENTS HAVE RIGHTS
I will uphold and defend the fundamental rights of parents to direct the upbringing and education of their children.
Parents have the right to know what is being taught, to access curriculum and instructional materials, and to be fully informed about matters involving their child’s education, health, safety, and well-being at school.

PROTECT GIRLS. PROTECT PRIVACY. PROTECT FAIRNESS.
I will support policies that protect the privacy, safety, and dignity of every student by maintaining sex-separated restrooms, locker rooms, and changing facilities.
I will stand for fairness in girls’ sports and protect female athletes’ opportunity to compete on a level playing field.
Girls deserve safe spaces and a fair chance to compete.

PROTECT EDUCATIONAL FUNDING. INVEST IN WHAT WORKS.
I will treat every taxpayer dollar as a public trust and act as a responsible steward of educational funding.
I will prioritize spending that is evidence-based, measurable, and clearly connected to core academic programs or essential classroom support.
I will oppose spending that cannot demonstrate a meaningful educational purpose or measurable benefit to students.
Public dollars belong in classrooms, with teachers, and focused on the core mission of our schools — not diverted to political agendas, special interests, or organizations that cannot show educational value.

EDUCATION FOCUSED
I will keep our schools focused on their fundamental mission: Reading. Writing. Mathematics.
And I will ensure students have real pathways to success after high school — college, career and technical education, skilled trades, military service, entrepreneurship, and the workforce.
I will oppose allowing political agendas or ideological activism to distract from or replace academic instruction.
Our schools should teach children how to think, not tell them what to think.
